Kata Beach is in the middle of two other smaller beaches, one separated by a headland at the south end to Kata Yai Beach and the northern end is Kata Noi Beach.

Kata's main attraction is its wide sandy beach, providing masses of room to accommodate water sports like parasending, snorkeling and fishing.

Surrounded by high mountains which separate it from the other west coast beaches, Kata retains a more laid back character than neighbouring Patong. Kata Noi Beach, This is a much smaller bay, only ten minutes walk away from kata village. Lush green jungle covered mountains surround this beach.
